New Central math team members are CHAMPS sixâ€"member team from Oakville‘s New Central Public School have taken top spot in the sixth annual Credit Humber Association for Mathematics Promotion Contest (CHAMP). A team comprised of students presently taking Grade 9 math at New Central was the top Halton team in the Grade 9 portion of the CHAMP Contest. Members of the Grade 8 and 9 CHAMP math teams from New Central School are (front row left to right) Ryan Matthiesen, Chris Anderson, Wooâ€"Jun Jang, Jon Bradley and Cameron Walker; and (back row left to right) Lucas Noonan, Duncan Kushnir, Kevin Hadley, Allan Olley, John Newsome and Taylor Sutherland. This is the second year in a row that the New Central team captured first place in the Grade 8 portion of the contest. In all, 5,886 students from 180 different schools participated.
