Teachers honored for innovative initiatives By ANGELA BLACKBURN Oakville Beaver Staff A Grade 5 program that focuses on an African country for all subjects and a unique tutoring program have earned six Oakville teachers ACE awards from the Halton Board of Education. The ACE (Award for Creativity in Education) awards have been handed out to three teachers from Sunningdale Public School, a French immersion school, and two others from Oakvilleâ€"Trafalgar High School (OTHS) along with an instructional consultant on. The teachers received a certificate and a $1,000 cheque each to devote to professional development. Partners in learning at OTHS sees senior students tutor junior students in all the core Grade 9 programs, English, math, French, science and geogâ€" raphy. "The program is to help kids who aren‘t the school‘s top learners," said OTHS teacher Greig Dunn. Dunn received the ACE award along with OTHS teacher Phil Davison and Jacki Oxley, an instructional consultant for OTHS.
