Three stages to financial success There are several stages to your financial development. The better you manage each stage, the better off you will be from a financial perspective. Your income has the potential to increase as your career develops.Cash flow is tight because of the morgage plus other necessities like furniture and family expenses. Stage one is the accumulation stage. You purchase a house and then during the next decade or two, you pay off the mortgage. During this time, you should start investing in a RRSP. Not only do you need the tax deduction, but building a retirement nest egg needs time. Your largest financial asset is time. By starting to invest in a RRSP at an early age, your investments will have many decades to grow and compound. Stage two starts when you have paid off your mortgage. Convert your savings ability from paying the mortgage to purchasing regular, nonâ€"RRSP assets.
