The first phase of the building, due for completion in the spring of next year at a cost of $5.8 million, will house Hydro‘s administrative offices. The Operations part of the facility incorporating the current Lyons Lane operation, will come some time in the future at an estimated cost of $8.4 million. The general manager of Oakville Hydro, Ron Noonan, said the need for an expanded facility was evident seven or eight years ago when space was being squeezed in the present building on Trafalgar Road. Two portables at the back and two meeting rooms converted into office space helped accommodate employees now numbering 118, down from 130 a couple of years ago due to attrition and nonâ€"replacement of those who left. Last year, these 118 employees serviced 38,509 customers as compared to 33,500 in 1988.
