According to Angus Kyle, the authority‘s mandate â€" which was estabâ€" lished in 1973 â€" came to a "practical end" last year when the Master Plan was finished. In place of development, he said its role would become one of moniâ€" toring, suggestion and maintenance. Now that the plan is being reviewed and updated, Kyle is looking forward to putting the finishing touches on the town‘s waterfront. "We will approach it from an eyesâ€" wideâ€"open, not preconceived, base," says Kyle. "A lot of things are being looked at and none will be discarded. Anyone who uses the harbor will be consulted." One component of the review is "park beautification," or the accessibility and usefulness of greenspace alongside the harbor. One item which will likely gamer attention is the number of geese and their coinciding waste. fter spending twenty years Ahelming the Harbours Master Plan to a successful compleâ€" tion, the Oakville Harbours Development Authority has no plans to call it quits. In fact, its vice chairman is anticipating the new role it will serve in the future. With the plan for Bronte Harbour approved in principle, the Town will be focusing mainly on Oakville Harbour and its adjacent parklands. To adminisâ€" ter this process the Town has hired Dirk Blyleven, the man who oversaw Mississauga‘s Waterfront Master Plan. Blyleven, says Kyle, is a strong environâ€" mental planner who will research land and waterâ€"use plans. The first order will be to issue a special questionnaire designed to solicit public input. Kyle said the first will likely appear on signposts in the harbor area. The area at the end of the Sixteen Mile Creek on the west side of the harbor will also be examined as a possible dinghy launch site or location for windsurfers. Also discussed will be alternative uses for the building on Walker Street now used by the Authority. Kyle said it might be leased or rented out to service clubs and residents groups. 5420 North Service Rd.
