Oakville native Dr. Andrew Maidment (PhD) has been appointed the director of Radiological Imaging Physics Research at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Maidment moved to Philadelphia this spring after successfully completing his PhD work at the University of Toronto in April 1992. His PhD thesis was entitled "Scannedâ€"Slot Digital Mammography*. Maidment is responsible for overseeing the quality control/quality assurance program in the Department of Radiology. As well, he has his own research lab and is beginning an independent research program into digital mammography (computerized Xâ€"ray images of the breast).
