IKELLY GENTLEMAN Gentleman says her willingness to go hard comes from her upbring- ing. Her mother and father are both sports-minded and she competes with sister Lisa, 15, and brother Graham, 12. Down the road Gentleman would like to become a teacher or physiotherapist: "l'd love to give back something for what my coaches have put in - the time and effort to teach skills." "(My parents) are always there for my games," she says. "I guess the highlights would be the midget rugby team winning the Ontario title (1989), this year's senior (rugby) team being second at OFSAA and the two (Halton) senior volleyball championships," said the Vancouver. "He never let me win at any- thing," said the tr-foot-l, l75-pound Wagner. Sora says Wagner's analytical mind allows him to "take what a teacher does in class or what a coach does in practice and think three steps ahead...He would make a great coach some day." Wagner admits he likes to mix the cerebral with his sports. "I like that aspect of the game." said Wagner who will take engi- neering either at Queen's or McMaster University in the fall. Beyond her athletic prowess. it's Gentleman's willingness to give and gwe dependability that make her a remarkable individual. says White Oaks' physical education coordinator, Bev Bemdt. "Kelly's leadership potential has grown by leaps and bounds," Bemdt remarked. "For a kid that is quiet and not too outgoing, she's assumed a strong leadership role. "When you need something, you can call her at the last minute and she'll be there. Even in the off-sea- son, she's available all the time. She understands the school is there for the students to run. She con- tributes and not just takes." Oakville Blades junior A hockey club held its annual Awards Night Saturday at the Oakville Rod and Gun Club.
