It's an administration program, nothing to do with the board and if anybody owes an apology for anything, I think it's the administration...for how it (the program) was set up...the original mandate for the program, whereby a person knowingly or unknowingly was expected to provide positive input to the board," said School. On June 24 Halton Board of Education trustees will debate whether the board should apologize to Key Communicators - community volunteers to 2 board program that was frozen when it met public controversy. A group of key communicators. including three Oakville residents, wrote to the board in late May asking for an apology. The Key Communicator program was set up by board administration in the late 1980s, It sought volunteers to provide feedback on education issues and promote education in the community. Part of Scheel's questions centred around the fact volunteers were to show positive support for the board and Scheel pre- sented a confidential report to the board on potential abuses of the program. "To put people like newspaper reporters, MPPs, councillors and other respected citizens of our community in a conflict position was wrong," said Scheel.
