Newton, of Oakville, Ontario, was among l6 Ball Corporation employees who received Corporate Honors Awards. Newton, lead electrical engineer, Ball Packaging Products Canada, Inc., received the Award of Excellence, given for outstanding innovation, management, and service. He joined Ball as an electrical engineer in 1985, when the company was American Can of Canada, Rexdale. He also worked for the former Onex Packaging plant in 1986, and was promoted to his current position with Ball Canada in 1988. Prior to his work with Ball, Newton worked as senior project engineer for Quaker Oats Company of Canada, Peterborough, Ontario. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Professional Engineers of the Province of Ontario and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Newton and his wife Sandra have four children: Dana, 17; Laurel, 14; Lindsay, 12; and Jessica, 9. Ball Corporation manufactures metal and glass containers for the beverage and food industries and provides aerospace systems and professional services to government and commercial customers.
