Certainly, in his earlier years of education, Mark’s teachers were hard pressed to locate that serious side. Sort of cute and irrepressible in the elementary grades (with the voice of an angel), he gradually became less cute and more disrup- tive. Not that his comic antics were in bad tasteâ€" just ill-timed. So how “He’s hilarious,” his VP, Kevin Blair insists. “Mark can make anybody laugh," Sue Dalgleish, also on the student council, reports. But, she adds, he has a serious side that not many people see. Enter Mark Forward, a 19-year- old Charlie Brown character in baseball cap and Tâ€"shirt. Like many teenagers, he moves a little awk- wardly, but manages to mold his body into every curve of a chair. Mark was the Student Council pres- ident this year at QEP School in west Oakville. He is (everyone agrees) â€" a “funny” guy. t is the final week of school for high school students, and the final week of high school for some. I wasn’t really using my full potential. I thought if I’m funny, maybe I can put it to good use, instead of ...,” he grins devilishly â€" “You know, evil.” Still, it seems to have taken a criâ€" sis to bring about the ‘transforma- tion’, and a caring teacher. “The first year, I was elected to Student Council,” Mark relates. “My grades were not good, so I got kicked off for a half a year.” Mark Forward: the Eagle has landed. did the ‘class cut-up’ become the (‘ respected student body leader? u That was depressing, he says “She picked me up,” he allows. “She built up my confidence.
