‘Blue Rodeo and fireworks * _ Better still, this is a recording band with a reputation for bringing â€"dynamite performances to the stage. ~With a few recent changes to their ineup, critics note that Blue Rodeo as a more raw and aggressive ‘sound than ever before. Mix that with songs that run the gamut from eautiful ballads to out and out ockers, and Blue Rodeo promises &n outstanding musical event. . _ Don‘t miss it . . . Blue Rodeo {Coronation Park, Saturday June 6th, at 8 p.m. «_ And for the few who haven‘t heard â€" here‘s the lowâ€"down on the band. Blue Rodeo has just cut Lost ‘Together, their new album, followâ€" ing phenomenal success with the irst three â€" each of which went ilatinum. Named "Best Group" three years in a row by the Juno Awards, Blue Rodeo is a hot ticket. Hot, but tough to get. Just back from a tour of Europe and Australia, Blue Rodeo is very, very picky about scheduling performance dates. Fortunately for Oakville musicâ€" lovers, the Festival made the grade. Following Blue Rodeo, at about 10:30 p.m., is a fabulous fireworks isplay. A professional effort, this how is contracted to Pyrofire Fireworks â€" the organization that produced spectacular displays for such major events as Royal visits, Canada Day and Parliament Hill celâ€" ‘ebrations. _ Best of all, there will be none of that frustrating "can‘t quite see it" that so often dilutes even the best fireworks displays. Pyrofire Fireworks has contracted to "set ‘them off" from a barge located in Lake Ontario â€" just offshore from ‘Coronation Park. ; _ Needless to say, this all comes at a price â€" a price that has been generâ€" ously paid by Oakville‘s auto dealâ€" ers. Bear in mind the tough economy and give extra recognition and supâ€" port to these folks for their excepâ€" tional community spirit. SUN. JUI SAT. Speed plays no role in the outcome of the event. All participants must wear life jackets at all times and have safety ignition tethers in place to stop the boats in the event of an emergency. Poker Run participants must abide by the regulations in place for all bodâ€" ies of water they traverse with full consideration for the safety of spectaâ€" tors and the natural environment. Spectators are invited to visit the "wet pits" and dryland boat show at Bronte Harbour Yacht Club on Friday evening, and on Saturday morning, and Saturday evening. Admission is free. Spectators can also view the boats at each stopâ€"over point, and they can catch the excitement of the spectacuâ€" lar rolling start at the beginning of each leg of the 1993 Lake Ontario Poker Run.
