Patient pickâ€"up/dropâ€"off and other nonâ€"parking vehicular traffic will be redirected to the Emergency driveway off Allan Street. The front driveway to the Oakvilleâ€" Trafalgar Memorial Hospital will be closed to all vehicular traffic for a threeâ€" week period starting Tuesday. Pedestrian traffic will be slightly detoured, but will still have access through the main entrance. Details on that strategy aren‘t being released. â€" "The people who would benefit most from that information are the criminals so we‘re reluctant to tell you what we‘re doing," said Deputy Chief John Barratt. LaCourse called the new contract one he believed would be "second to none in the province." Under the contract, police employees will no longer be paid extra for overtime or statuatory holidays. Instead, they will have to take time off in lieu. The Hospital front driveway closed for three weeks "If there‘s trouble, you can bet the farm we‘ll be there," said Lafleur. "The cutbacks, if you can call them that, will not affect service," said LaCourse. There will be an operational impact admitted Police Services Board bargainâ€" ing team member Paul Lafleur, but all parties are now involved in a strategy to combat that. The contract was signed by all parâ€" ties at a press conference at the regional police headquarters Thursday afternoon. "We feel that under the circumâ€" stances both parties faced, this agreeâ€" ment is satisfactory to all parties. It‘s satâ€" isfactory to the members, the employer, the Police Services Board, senior adminâ€" istration and most important, we feel it is satisfactory to the community," said Halton Regional Police Association administrator Paul LaCourse, at a press conference, Thursday. A majority of the membérs of the Seniors Officers‘ Association also agreed to accept the contract. Of the 500â€"member police associaâ€" tion, 99% voted in favor of accepting the new threeâ€"year contract in ratificaâ€" tion meetings earlier this week. In doing so, police officials say they have not sacrificed safety or service levâ€" els in order to meet the demands of the province‘s social contract legislation. The Halton Regional Police Service and its members have signed a threeâ€" year contract which will reduce policing costs by $3 million over the length of the contract.
