Sept. 1, 1993 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Gators put bite on ball hockey title The Halton Ball â€"Hockey Association completed its inaugural season in dramatic fashion, Thursday Hayden Edwards‘ goal during the suddenâ€"death overtime shootout lifted the Gators to a 6â€"5 victory over Picâ€"Aâ€"Deli Stranglers in the league final at Oakville Arena. The Flyers defeated the Sharks 12â€"6 in the consolation final. Gators and Stranglers had battled to a 5â€"5 tie during regulation time, before Edwards scored on the fourth shot of the tieâ€"breaker. Thre previous attempts by each team had been stopped. Chris Rowe had three goals for Picâ€"aâ€"Deli, Daryl Kustra and Shane King the others. King‘s marker, with 3:06 left, forced overtime. Edwards and Rowe were named playersâ€"ofâ€"the game. Dave Collins scored three goals and Joe Gouveia, Richard Pitcher and Dino Germano had two each in the Flyers‘ rout. Dave Bird, Bob Marcotte and Dean Mullett had also scored. Brian Ruffo had three goals Mark Janes and _ Alberto Maggiotto one for the Sharks.
