Halton‘s first French language newspaper expected to roll off presses in October "When we feel we are more comfortable we can start picking up steam," said Fournier. _ Claudette Saint, Maurice Lapointe and Lynn Hunault are also members of the committee, which will launch the newspaper using a desktop publishing system. Foumnier, who will be editor of the paper, said he also hopes it will both strengthen ties within the Frenchâ€"speaking community and solidify links with the Englishâ€" speaking community. Operating out of the offices of Club Alouette Laval on James Street in Burlington, the newspaper will be staffed by volunteers. The aim is to produce six editions, about ohe every two months. Fournier, who is president of Club Alouette Laval and a member of Les Chevaliers de Colomb, the French version of the Knights of Columbus, estimates there are 600 renchâ€"Canadian families in Burlington, about 150 in Oakville d 125 in Georgetown. One hundred copies of the paper ill also be dropped at Ecole eorges Vanier, the Francophone igh school in Hamilton. _ "The Frenchâ€"speaking communiâ€" ty is looking for something to give them more encouragement to get involved in activities," said Foumier. Halton will soon have its own Frenchâ€"language newspaper. A committee of four headed by Louis Foumier hopes to have the first ediâ€" tion on the street in October. The Six Nations Iroquois Dancers will be performing, and Crawford Lake staff will be offerâ€" ing guided tours through the Turtle and Wolf Clan Longhouses. Visitors can learn how to make corn husk dolls, beaded necklaces, or have some Eastermn Hemlock/Honey Tea. Native artists will be onâ€"hand Sun., Sept. 12th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Crawford Lake Conservation Area in the reconâ€" structed Iroquoian Village, displayâ€" ing and selling their arts and crafts as part of the annual Indian Summer Festival. Indian Summer Festival at Crawford Lake The Frenchâ€"Canadian communiâ€" y is also entertaining thoughts of jublishing its own phone book. The Krazy Kanuck Kloggers â€" run by Jo & Sue Ferrier â€" will, once again, be starting clogging classes in Oakville. They will be held at Queen Elizabeth Park School, on Yolanda Drive. The first night for beginners will be held on Mon., Sept. 13th, at 7:15 p.m. And it is this easy to learn â€" if you can step it or jog it... you can clog it.
