At least they would want to be this Saturday. The Downtown Oakville B.I.A. is holding its annual Good Old Days celebration on Saturday, Sept. 25th, and Downtown Oakville will be decorated fifties style. IMPAX, a local oldies band will be playing in the vacant lot at 154 Lakeshore Rd. Lead guitarist David van Duzen has played with the likes of Ronnie Hawkins and other Rock n‘ Roll greats. A Karaoke/Impersonator contest will be held in the Towne Square. "The Karaoke is mostly for fun," says Lee Pigeau, Promotions Coâ€"ordinator for the B.LA., ‘"but at the end of the aftermoon we‘ll be holding an actual contest and the winner will receive a getaway weekend for two!" Maple Lodge Farms and Cocaâ€" Cola will be sponsoring 50 cent hotâ€" dogs and Coke with all proceeds going to the United Way. There will also be a dance contest held on Reynolds Street throughout the afternoon that is sponsored by Elegant Walls. Oldies 1150 will be having an on the spot remote during the aftemoon, and will offer everyone who attends a chance to win "Mustang Sally," a 1965 Mustang Convertible. Other vinâ€" tage cars will also be on display. Waters Edge Engincering did the structural design for the addiâ€" tion based on a concept by Burlington‘s Yamamoto Architects While many businessmen are merely content to wait out the recession, Angelo Rizzuti‘s expan. sion plans for Le Dome are proâ€" gressing full steam ahcad. The OQakville entrepreneur said construction of the 10,000 sq. ft. addition got underway in late July and hopes that it will be completed by the end of November â€" ready for the Christmas rush. The timing is perfect, since Le Dome is a popular site for parties of every description. Although linked to the original hall both physically and aesthetiâ€" cally, the addition will be an entireâ€" ly selfâ€"sufficient facility with its own entrance, but separated from the existing room by a new, curved lobby. Although new, it will still offer the same service and ameniâ€" ties as the older section. Rather than back down from opportunity during the recession, Rizzuti capitalized on lower interâ€" est rates and a construction indusâ€" try eager to get to work. When Le Dome was first built in 1987, Rizzuti said it was far from a buyer‘s market but now, six years later, he‘s calling the shots. Le Dome expanding its banquet facilities The original hall â€" all 14,000 sq. feet of it â€" is simply too large for some gatherings, however, and Rizzut: found himself in the enviâ€" able, but awkward, position of havâ€" ing to turm down business, Hence the addition which will cater to crowds of 200 or less. We had been refusing smaller parties and looking to the future we saw weddings getting smaller and smaller," said Rizzuti, who is already accepting bookings for the new sife. ) Those interested in reservations can call 42â€"8770,
