But their reputation fo: quality, affordability and service woul make Bert proud. 1 This year, Clargreen celebrates 75 ye in Oakvilleâ€"Mississauga so the Open| House will be a very special, notâ€"toâ€"be missed weekend. "It‘s a fun, affordable day for the whole family," says Russell Spence, Garder Centre Manager. "And it‘s a way we car give the community a treat." On November 13â€"14, Clargreen host: their annual Open House, a rar opportunity to visit all the nurserie including the orchid greenhouse an chat with experts about you horticultural problems. of your surroundings but also your pleasure in them. You have a determined brown thumb? Clargreen will care for your interior plants; they already look after plants for dozens of malls and offices in the area. And their exterior maintenance program will not only cut your lawn and care for your garden, but they also provide snowplow services in the winter. But services offered are only as good as the people providing them. Each person on the staff seems to share Dytnerski‘s pleasure in things horticultural. They are‘ friendly and helpful, but even more importantly, they are knowledgeablc.l Your questions will get an answer and{ your purchases carry a warranty that means something. ‘ On October 2, Clargreen hosts their second annual Fall Festival. "It‘s a litt] bit of fun to celebrate the fall," says Dytnerski. There will be a bake sale and craft sales sponsored by church group St. Luke‘s School will be selling pope and the hot dogs and cider are under dollar. Activities include face paintin and wagon rides, a pumpkin carvin contest and you can even make yo own scarecrow (bring some old clothe: to dress it in). When the Abbs family opened Clargreen Gardens 75 years ago, they couldn‘t have known that their family‘s little nursery would grow to be one of the largest orchid growers in the country. Thousands of plants are carefully cultivated annually by specialist, John Marcotte, some of them so unique and valuable, they are kept in a barred room. They couldn‘t have foreseen the row upon row of exotic tropical plants which line many of the shelves of the 45,000 square feet of greenhouses. Clargreen not only imports vast numbers of tropical plants, they also grow them in their own nurseries. You will find plants here that few other garden centres can offer. Michael Dytnerski, President of Clargreen, has a passion for tropicals, "I love the heat and the jungle," he cheerfully acknowledges. So the tropical nursery holds a special place in his affection. It‘s worth a visit just to see the exotic tree ferns, glorious gardenin,‘ passion flowers and even bougainvillea which everywhere seem to flourish. f Those first Abbs could not have foretold the popularity of the delicate and lovely little Bonsai plants, patiently nurtured by resident expert, Lucy Woodliffe. You can draw on her expertise to produce your own bonsai, and all the materials you need are available at the centre. This is a oneâ€"stop shopping centre for all J your horticultural needs. The garden centre stocks everything: chemicals, soils, plants, pots, terrariums, and much more. But these days, there‘s a full floral shoppe, with both FTD and Teleflora links worldwide and a generous selection of striking flower arrangements always ready for those lastâ€"minute gifts. Skilled designers can offer advice on , both interior and exterior landscape planning. Professionally landscaped gardens can add a great deal to the value of a home. And interior landscaping can add much to not only the attractiveness 75 Years & Still Growing Advertisement
