Saturn shoots for Balanced Excellence in 1994 Fodel year 1994 marks MSuturn's third year in / A Canada, during which the marque has established itself as a major contender in the small car field. As most everybody knows, Saturn was founded for one reason above all others, and that was to lure import owners out of their imports and into a new North Americanâ€"made car. As some people may remember, a good many critics didn‘t think Saturn could do it. As some people may remember, a good many critics didn‘t think Saturn could do it. Import owners, the critics said, had grown not only to love their cars, but to trust them, to believe in them, and to purchase them with a loyalty unprecedented in any industry. No doubt, this view in part explains why Saturn USA only sold a mere 40,000 cars during its first model year. However, it doesn‘t do much to explain why now, three years later, Saturn USA is selling that many cars every few months â€" not to mention outselling Honda and other gcompetitive imports on a per dealership basis. What Saturn has become, amazingly enough, is one of those rare endeavors in history in which thousands of people are truly focused on the same single commitment. Ask anybody at Saturn why the company exists and they‘ll tell you: to beat the imports. With that thought in mind, we proudly introduce Saturn‘s 1994 models, now on display at BUDD‘S SATURN SAAB ISUZU. lA# i "The Family Business That Service Built" 507SPEERSROAD SATURN gs BUddS' oakviLeE _ SAAB &" +4 8451610 _ ‘*42" Throughout that time a carefully selected group of standâ€"alone import and small car dealers known as Saturnâ€"Saabâ€"Isuzu Truck has worked hard to assure the Saturn philosophy of customer service is applied to the DIEFFERENT Kinp of ComraANY DIFEEERENT KINb of C .5 SATURN C | Canadian market with the same vigor as its U.S. counterpart. 1994 brings a renewed dedication, represented by what Saturn proudly refers to as "Balanced Excellence" â€" offering customers exceptional value for their money. This means a high level of performance without sacriâ€" ficing fuel economy or emissions; affordability while maintaining reliaâ€" bility and durability; and an overall commitment to quality without comâ€" SATUVRN promise Saturn comes as an SC Coupe, SL Sedan, and SW Station Wagon in two performance levels, denoted by the symbols "1" (for single overheadâ€" camshaft) and "2" (for double overâ€" headâ€"camshaft) engines. All are built on an identical spaceframeâ€"type platâ€" form that puts the wheels close to the corners for better ride and handling and features fourâ€"wheel independent suspension, extensive use of composâ€" ite body panels, and an aluminum 1.9 litre fourâ€"cylinder engine. The company believes in constant improvement as opposed to radical change, yet each model year brings new features, both subtle and obviâ€" ous. All have one thing in common â€" to make Saturn more desirable to the customer. In 1994 Saturn switches to CFCâ€" free Râ€"134a refrigerant for models equipped with air conditioning. A new refrigerant system allows cooling performance equal to the previous Râ€" 12 system. Engine noise and vibration have been reduced through an improved dashmat with fewer frontâ€"ofâ€"dash passâ€"throughs, and refinements to the torque axis mount and transmission torque strut. Transmissions â€" have been improved: The SOHC first gear ratios in both manual and automatic transâ€" missions are now common with DOHC versions. This improves the SOHC‘‘s launch feel and performance. The final drive has been altered to reduce gear noise. Automatic transâ€" missions, which feature a dual mode allowing the driver to select between "performance" or "normal", have been recalibrated for better response. A new "high power density" starter is smaller and lighter, providâ€" ing faster cranking speeds. Engine spark timing is improved by sensing crankshaft speeds six times per powâ€" ertrain revolution, which results in improved low RPM responsiveness. A new moulded black valve cover for the DOHC engine is made of composite material, reducing noise, providing corrosion resistance, and improving underhood appearance. Changes to the optional antiâ€"lock brakes (ABS) have reduced noise entering the passenger compartment, and improved brake pedal feel. The steering gear ratio of the Saturn Coupes has now been applied to SW2 and SL2 models for faster response. Outside changes to the 1994 Saturns are minimal but attractive... a new Medium Blue Green has been added to the color palette and the recentlyâ€"introduced Plum color is extended to all but the SL1 sedan. 191 PONTIAG _ GRAND PRIX SE 4â€"dr., V6, auto, fully loaded, buck<t seats, console, pwr. moon roof.
