This was the late 70’s at Queen Elizabeth Park School and Marin’s students were under the expert direc- tion of Keith Benford who founded the awardâ€"winning Everyman Theatre Company and ‘scooped’ Marin into the world of acting. Larry Marin used to watch his English students in their drama ,class and be fascinated by the talent and ingenuity they executed on stage. Marin came off the sidelines to take a path an Everyman production and the next thing he knew he was a solid member of the Oakville Players, a troupe specializing in Canadian shows for the Oakville Drama Series. Over the past several years he has not only added many characters to his stage repertoire but has also plunged into directing, winning a nomination for Best Director from the Ontario Association of Community Theatre. Although he enjoys acting more than directing, Marin says he finds tremendous satisfaction in taking a play full circle, in having “a vision” he can realize and in “having the ultimate authority and control over it.” Marin is also motivated by the whole thrust of community theatre, that is, several people bringing their talents and perspective to a production with the end result a blend of ideas for the common good of not iust the play By KATHY YANCHUS Oakville Beaver Stay?r Oakville Players tackle 'gritty' comedy ‘â€" OPEN FRI, SAT. Filthy Rich has intrigued Marin for many years and it’s a play the Players agreed to do as a group many years ago but was cost prohibitive until now. “Personally, I’m a George F. Walker fan. I’ve seen a number of his plays over the yeaxs in the city,” says Barbara Sutherland and Mark Forward are featured in the Oakville Players' production of Filthy Rich, at the Oakville Centre this week- end and next.
