They are the 11 Oakville recruit firefighters, who spent their own time, money and fund raising abiliâ€" ties to go help victims of floodâ€"ravâ€" aged midâ€"west communities in the United States. The new firefighters were honâ€" ored with a plaque and $500 at the Third Annual Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year Awards held by the Kiwanis Club of Oakville, Monday night. _ And, Halton Police Chief James Harding was named Police Officer of the Year. "It‘s just great. I‘m proud as can be." said firefighter Carmen Nominations are now being accepted for the 1995 911 Calendar. The emergency services of Halton Region are asking the public‘s assistance by nominating their favorite police officer, firefighter, ambuâ€" lance attendant or any civilian 911 member from these services for the fundraising calendar.
