Dear Sir: On Sunday, Oct. 31st, my wife and I were driving along Bronte Road in Oakville when the car in front of us ran over a Canada goose standing on the side of the road. The driver of the vehicle did not stop; he merely drove away while the poor creature died at the roadside. Dear Sir: This is an open letter to the thugs who barged into our house on Hallowe‘en at 6:16 p.m., pushed aside my daughter, and stole all the candy we had for legitimate trickâ€" orâ€"treaters and especially to their parents: Well, I trust you enjoyed yourâ€" selves, bullying and terrorizing on astchat o °2 _ _ EN3j, ‘MS is nOl an . should b¢ chenished and protected. . at the side of the road, I hope you are On Sunday, Oct. 31st, my wife uncommon occurrence along _ They give character to the lakefront proud of what you‘ve done. At last W report it was $435,000 short. If the United Way falls short of its goal, the consequences will be felt throughout the community, According to executive director Bill Deyell about one in three people will use one of the United Way‘s 36 member agencies next year. While some might criticize the United Way for setting a lofty goal of $1.9 million, there is little denying the need exits. For instance, the Oakville Crisis Centre receives upwards of 12,000 calls for help each year, but current facilities and staff can only respond to half of these calls and Halton Family Services now have a sixâ€"month waiting period for counselling and the Oakville list is now over 70 and growing daily. These are just two examples of the demands placed on United Way member Agencies. Imagine what will happen if this year‘s goal is not met. On Friday, Nov. 19th, the United Way is asking everyone to dress down and provide a $2 contribution. If enough businesses cooperate, the United Way might just receive enough of a push to reach its fundraising goal. So on Friday, wear some old clothes to work and enjoy the fact that you are benefitâ€" ing your community as well. the list Because of the dangers they face on equipped with the very best weapons avail There isn‘t any excuse at all not to do s during confrontations and the licence to forces. ‘ United Way needs support vears have been victims of armed robberies on more than one occasion.
