T By KATHY YANCHUS Oakville Beaver Staff Erika Barrett is back and with her own exhibit, this time at CC James Gallery on Kerr Street. The show marks new ‘beginâ€" nings‘ for Barrett in several ways. For one, due to her committment as an education resource worker for the Dufferin Schoolboard for the past several years, she has been unable to devote as much time to her art, something which changed with her recent layoff. For another, she has been known for her large, bold canvasses of dancers â€" her work being chosen for the prestiâ€" gious National Ballet of Canada‘s annual art exhibition and sale every Barrett is back with a solo show at CC * SHELVES * WOODEN TOYS * STORAGE CHESTS * BLANKET BOXES * DEACON‘S BENCHES * GRANNY TRUNKS Mall This Saturday at NOON Traditional Foods from The British Isles (Outside the Mall, facing Prospect Street, located beside Star Cleaners) Burlington The Oakville Symphany Orchestra tickets make perfect Christmas Gifts, Please join us at * ROCKING CHAIRS * SPOON RACKS * WINDSOR BENCHES * CORNER CABINETS * SECRETARY DESKS * WARDROBES * BOOK CASES * ARMOIRES * ENTERTAINMENT UNITS + DRESsSERs * ROLL TOP DESKS * TABLES CHAIRS CUSTOM ORDERS FINISHING AVAILABLE OPEN suNDaAysS 825â€"9665 We betiven to 2425 MARINE DR HALTON PEEL Her concentration on children is a direct result of her heavy involveâ€" ment with kids over the past few years, which included not just her teaching duties with Dufferin but with the Oakyille Art Society and Oakville Community Living. This past summer Barrett hit the beaches with camera and sketchâ€" book in hand. The resulting oils are beautiful, summery, uplifting creâ€" ations of water babies which will grace the white walls of the quaint CC Gallery Thursday, Dec. 2nd to 5th. Other solo _shows of Barrett‘s have been at the Oakville Town Hallâ€"Gallery and the OAS Gallery. Her work was also represented in the Juried Art Exchange show with Negawaya Japan organized by the Oakville Arts Council in the sumâ€" merâ€"of 1988 and she has been involved in numerous group shows, art auctions and artâ€"inâ€"theâ€"park shows. Although she is "scared to death" about her upcoming solo show, she is also looking forward to renewing old acquaintances and perhaps interesting a gallery in repâ€" resenting her. "I thought it was about time I do something. I was feeling a little burnt out and I wanted to promote what I really want to do which is my art."
