For the next 15 minutes, he managed to blank the West shooters. But then he was involved in the ame‘s scariest moment when he dropped to the ice after being hit in the right shoulder with a slapshot Aelivered by Aaron Saul â€" a right inger with the Ajax Axemen. Ivankovic tried to continue playâ€" ing but pulled himself out of the match 15 seconds later, during the mext stoppage. "I‘ve been in a bit of a slump this year," said the Oakville goaltender, who entered the contest with a 4.20 goalsâ€"against average in 15 appearâ€" ances. "I wanted to finish the game because I thought if I could continue playing well, I could carry it over into league play." Ivankovic realized, however, it was better to be safe than sorry. "The stick felt a bit heavy, so it was my decision to come out," he ‘said. "I didn‘t want to ruin anything or the rest of the year." Frank lvanl(ovic Despite his injury, Ivankovic added he will have fond memories of Saturday‘s contest, which attractâ€" ed about 500 onlookers. "It was a good experience. It was fun playing with guys from around the league that you usually hate." As for Raymond and Williams, they also both had productive outâ€" ings. Raymond racked up three assists â€" all in the third period â€" while Williams scored the West‘s final goal. "In a game hke this, everybody wants to win," said Raymond, a Chicago Blackhawks‘ draft pick. "When you lose, though, you just consider it as an exhibition game." Raymond added that his threeâ€" point performance was nothing to really brag about. "It was just one of those games where you make a pass and a guy goes in and scores." As for Williams, he was hoping to come out of the highâ€"scoring match with a couple more points. "I probably could have buried the puck a few more times," he said. "But I wasn‘t playing with my reguâ€" lar linemates so I had to make a few adjustments. If I had (Oakville lineâ€" mate) Gord Kalverda feeding me the pick, I would have known exactly Oakville goaltender foils West snipers where to be." Williams began the contest on a line with Brampton Capitals‘ forâ€" wards Ryan Foster and Ron Watts who picked up a pair of goals. He also saw his share of action with Burlington Cougars‘ snipers Barry MacDonald and Adam Copeland who was chosen as the most valuable player for the West squad. Other West scorers were left winger Matt Turek and defenceman Steve Rebelo, who both play for the Hamilton Kilty Bees, MacDonald and Copeland. Orillia Terriers right winger Jeff Cheeseman led the East attack netâ€" ting a hat trick, including the game winner at the 16:51 mark of the third period. For his efforts, Cheeseman was selected as the MVP for the East squad. Also scoring for the East were Saul, Peterborough Petes®‘ forwards Scott Stephens and Rob Fitzgerald, Newmarket 87s centre Jason Fortier, and Barrie Colts forward Rob Look. Oakville sealed the victory in the last minute of overtime with Jason Bengert capitalizing on a rare overâ€" time power play opportunity. Mike Roberts and Matt Swain picked up the assists.
