December newâ€"home sales show substantial increase There were 786 new.homes sold in the Greater Toronto Area in December, 1993 â€" a whopping 77 per cent increase from the 445 new homes sold in December, 1992, according to the Greater Toronto Home Builders‘ Association (GTHBA). "The 786 sales represents the best December result since 1988 and the third consecutive outstanding monthly performance," said GTHBA president Peter Langer. The fourth quarter results raised total 1993 newâ€"home sales to 11,297 â€" a 12 per cent increase over the 10,091 new home sales recorded in 1992.
