At least, this is the case with Harvey Theobald, a retired Chief of Plan Logistics in the Canadian Armed Forces whose illustrious career included landing in Normandy on June 6, 1944, and being left for dead on the beach. Today, he leads a much calmer life, but has found a way to use his army expertise . . . as a volunteer with the Oakville Unit of the Cancer Society. Volunteers are the backbone of the Oakville Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society, and two of them are Harvey Theobald, campaign worker; and Valerie Cowie, patient services chair. The society‘s blitz is currently underway to April 15th, and if willing to help with the canâ€" vass, call the Oakville Unit of the Cancer Society at 905â€"845â€"5231.
