When the meal was served he saw that the presentaâ€" tion was excellent. He enjoyed his meal very much. But something struck him as odd. He examined the remains on his plate and recognized that the piece of dirty aluminum foil left from the baked potato was out of place. The cumbersome leftover was extra garbage. Robert started to investigate the use of foil. He conâ€" sidered his closest sources. First he took a case of foil wrapped potatoes, unwrapped them and weighed the foil which ultimately had to be discarded. This weight added up to 10 oz. He also discovered that these preâ€" wrapge potatoes were not even properly cleaned. Why? Because wrapped baklnï¬lpotatoes are machine washed. He also found out that wrapped potatoes have a tendency to germinate within the foil creating an inferior quality potato. For weeks now at Robert‘s Fish Cove all baked potatoes are hand washed and baked unwrapped. Robert then asked his supplier for flg?]ures of the total sales _ of Foilâ€"Wrapped potatoes which are sold yearly in Ontario. With these figures, robert converted these amounts into ï¬ounds. Once again a sobering discovery. He found the total weight to be a shocking 468,750 pounds of wasted aluminum. The goo dnews! By deciding not to buy Foilâ€"Wrapped otatoes for his establishment, Robert Orsi cooks resher, cleaner potatoes, keeps his cost down and inâ€" turn passes these savings onto his customers. At the same time he is giving our environment a break by not loading our dumpsites with nonâ€"biodegradable metal which could contaminate our lands and our waters.
