By KATHY YANCHUS Oakville Beaver Staff "II he wheels of the Halton T Board of Education are turning too fast, charges Burlington _ trustee _ Diane Leblovic. Through three motions delivâ€" ered to the board at Thursday night‘s meeting, Leblovic tried to reign in board officials‘ actions towards restructuring and help trustees maintain their "accountâ€" ability" to constituents. "I am concerned about the direction we‘re going as a board. I am concerned that we have not been involved in any further disâ€" cussion about reâ€"structuring since February (when there was reâ€" structuring of senior staff)," rea soned Leblovic. "Where are we now? Where are we going? Where are we going to end up? I want trustees to have a good underâ€" standing of that." Leblovic unsuccessfully urged trustees to support her motion to freeze the posting and filling of vacant positions made available through OMERS _ (Ontario Municipal Retirement Systems) retirements until the board approved a restructuring plan. "Ultimately, the board is responsible and accountable for reâ€"structuring but we don‘t know how we‘re going to reâ€"structure. I don‘t want to be a spectator. I wasn‘t elected to be a spectator," said Leblovic. Director of Education Bob Williams said he felt officials were operating within the mandate of the board and on "at least three occasions" the reâ€"structuring proâ€" cess had been explained to trustees. We‘re far too far into the process," said Williams, adding that an updated report would be brought before the board next month. Halton Hills trustee Dick Howitt said it was an "absolute redâ€"herring" to label Leblovic‘s motion an accountability one. "If we approve this we will creâ€" Y‘\ AT THE BEST PRICE ; ® ¢ ate absolute chaos in the system" said Howitt, emphatically. Leblovic‘s attempt to have a consulting firm assist the board in its longâ€"range and reâ€"structuring agenda, was also defeated, but her motion to have Williams provide trustees with organizational charts for all departments, positions and job descriptions, was approved. _ *~ "~ CcXE I arcade | sound systems ‘62 Aep ‘Aepungs ‘puayaam 19neag â€" E1 1290 SPEER 847-9121] VTTRESSES _ HOURS MONâ€" FRI 10â€"9 SATURDAY 9â€"6 SUNDAY 2520 BRISTOL CIRCLE 115 BETWEEN WINSTON CHURCHILL #403 OFF DUNDAS BEHIND AIKENHEAD‘S DIXIE RD. 1862 DUNDAS ST.
