Assailant broke into home Teen assaulted in basement while parents asleep upstairs Halton Regional Police are seeking the public‘s help in trying to apprehend a man who broke into an east Oakville home around 3:00 a.m. Friday and sexually assaulted a 17 year old female. Police said the teenager was awakened by the intruder who held a knife to her throat. He then forced her into the basement of the home where he sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to grab the knife and fled to the upper area of the house where she alerted other members of her home who were asleep. The teen‘s father chased the culâ€" prit through neighbouring backâ€" yards but lost him. A police dog was called in after police secured the area but the culâ€" prit could not be located.
