Now that Oakville is the new home of the recently expanded Halton Community Legal Services, counsel is more accessible than ever. Obtaining legal advice is often difficult enough The community legal clinic â€" which opened in Georgetown in the Seventies to service primarily rural residents â€" extended its services in the Eighties yet found itself isolated from its largely lowâ€"income clients in south Halton. In an effort to remedy the situation, a caseworker will now be working out of the Halton Multicultural Council, located at 635 Fourth Line Suite 48, each Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. "Although our office is located in Georgetown, for a number of years we have served people throughout Halton Region. We have recently changed our name to Halton Community Legal Services to reflect our manâ€" date and the area that we serve," explained Jeff Steinberg, executive director and a lawyer at the clinic. "We also wish to improve upon service delivery to those people who live in South Halton and cannot be served over the phone, but do not have transportation to Georgetown."
