Here‘s the highâ€" lights: _ Burloak Canoe Club results Scarborough limited quarterback Mark Demerling to only nine comâ€" pletions out of 29 attempts although he did manage to chalk up 155 yards. A lot of their attention was focussed on favourite receiver Jamie Wootton who was doubleâ€"teamed the whole game. Mike Dingsdale wasn‘t complaining, however, as he logged 84 yards on three receptions. This year, however, Oakville is sporting "a nicely balanced offence", and they simply pulled out another weapon â€" a running game. Dan McAlonan racked up 89 yards on five carries, including one touchdown, and went he went out with a bruised shoulder, his underâ€" study, Marcus Jack, didn‘t skip a beat, adding 124 more yards. Across the field was the same team they had met to open the season a month and a half earlier, the same team, in fact, they had beaten in last year‘s league championship. Thankfully, however, the end result was also the same â€" a win for the Longhorns who came back to defeat the Scarborough Tide 14â€"7 to push their record to six wins against no losses. That‘s because they rolled through the first half of the season with a win over each of the league‘s other five teams. One definite trend that was new in Friday‘s game was Scarborough‘s ability to curtail the Longhorn‘s passing game â€" something no one else has managed to do this year. And things, by and large, got off to a similar start with Scarborough Crimson Tide taking the lead on a quick touchdown. In the season‘s first game, the Longorns had to come back from a 14â€"0 deficit, to eke out a 28â€"21 home win. As the Longhorns progress through the second half of the schedule â€" they host the North Bay Bulldogs this Saturday (July 9), 7 p.m., at Bronte Athletic Field â€" they wouldn‘t mind feeling a bit more of that deja vu feeling. Deja Vu. That‘s what the Oakville Longhorns must have felt Friday as they opened the second half of their Northern Football Conference season.
