Ford of Canada sold 15,839 trucks in June â€" nearly 300 more than its previous record in April 1989. June was the ninth straight month in which Ford‘s truck sales exceeded those of the same month the previous year. Minivans are included in truck sales totals. "The new Ford Windstar minivan led the way for our record month," said Udo Kaul, vice president â€" General Sales, Ford of Canada. "Also, sales of our Fâ€"Series pickâ€"up trucks were up 53 percent from last June." . In total, Ford truck sales were up 34 percent from 11,796 in June1993. Car sales of 14,732 were off 3 percent from last June‘s 15,208. Total vehiâ€" cle sales of 30,571 were up 13 percent from last June‘s 27,004. Ford and Lincolnâ€"Mercury dealers sold 2,069 Windstars in the month. "These strong Windstar sales have not come at the expense of our other minivans," said Mr. Kaul. "Combined sales of our other two minivans, Villager and Aerostar, were up slightly from last June. All told, sales of our minivans were up 54 percent from last June." The company‘s car sales were paced by Mustang and Escort. Sales of the new 1994 Mustang were more than triple last June‘s totals, while Escort sales were up 23 percent. For the calendar year to date, Ford vehicle sales of 145,680 are up 13 percent over the 128,808 sales for the first six months of 1993. Car sales of 72,650 are up 3 percent over 70,367 a year ago; truck sales of 73,030 are up 25 percent over 58,441. Ford of Canada has just reported its highest ever truck sales month, conâ€" tinuing its string of increased truck sales. Ford sets truck sales record Howard Johnson Hotel has new owners The new owners plan to start an immediate renovation of the hotel that will include an outdoor patio accommodating 120 people. Also included will be a new tennis court and exercise room. The Howard Johnson and Convention Centre in Oakville has been purâ€" chased by Darko Vranich and Zeljko Rudan.
