The Association for Bright Children is offering a series of free math, science and technology workâ€" shops to Halton teachers during the 1994/95 school year. The reason behind the move is to give teachers alternative ‘PA (Professional Activity) days‘, an option to continue to learn different methodology in the face of PA day cutbacks, said organizer Nami Bland, president of the ABCâ€"Halton Chapter. The workshops, geared to the Grade 8, 9 and 10 level with some relâ€" evant to OAC and others the primary grades, include such titles as: Large Scale Robotics Project; The Virtual Reality Excursion; Bones, Cuts and Stitches â€" Medical School Now?; Mathematics and Teeter Totters; Lasers in Action; Computer Insides; Teeth, An Orthodonic World and Broken Wings â€" Wild Bird Clinic In all, there are more than 50 workâ€" shops available on Saturdays in local Halton schools, at Sheridan College or at the Erindale Campus, University of Toronto. The presenters are local teachers, university and college professors, engineers and professionâ€" als. The workshops are open to all stuâ€" dents in the appropriate age category who have a genuine and keen interest in the topic of the workshop and who are eager for the opportunity to explore it further, said Bland.
