The interior of the Granary was lovingly restored to an elegance not known in its 19th century days. The renovation blends all the old elements of the strucutre with the business needs of today. (Continued from page 1) gone, as are the upholstered cubicles, and the vents that ran down the centre of the building are discreetly hidden away. Granary restoration was labor of love "(Before) the beams looked like:a poor quality orange styrofoam," said Masson. Now, each one has been refinished by hand. After three layers of flooring â€" carpeting, plyâ€" wood, and tongueâ€"andâ€"groove â€" were removed, the original pine floors were exposed and have been restored to their original splendor. Antique furniture and newly constructed dark wooden office cubicles and cabinets now line each floor. Once the renovations started and the results began to show, Masson said he couldn‘t stop. "Many things were done to this building that didn‘t need to be done." Despite the care that went into planning details, Masson said some of his buildings nicest features weren‘t planned at all. "There are a lot of things in this building that look attractive, but are really mistakes," said Masson. "The columns became a feature of the conference room because they stand alone, but they weren‘t intended at all." Now that all his employees are settled in their new headquarters, and the renovations are complete with the exception of some detail work, Masson is very pleased with what has been accomplished. "We never saw the potential, but by working at it very hard, the results are what they are." e s 327 CHURCH STREET, MILLER MEWS DOWNTOWN OAKVILLE Facing Grade 12, OAC‘s in a 5 week workshop geared to improving essay writing and University Monday 7:00â€"9:30 p.m. September 12 â€" October 17 (no class Oct. 10) At Appleby College.
