n o d t ie on t e oo Ee $ "I love Phantom," she said with delight, when interviewed in her Iroquois Ridge home, "but when I see and hear Showboat, I just want to jump onto the stage and do it with them." It seems a tall ambition â€" but Suzanne speaks it with such disarmâ€" ing spontaneity and clarity â€" we do not doubt it will happen. Maybe not tomorrow...but someday. A coloratura soprano‘ (hey â€" go look it up. I did), this mother of three young boys is petite with warm dark eyes and hair. Relatively new to Oakville, she was spotted recently at Midnight Madness by the local constabulary (oh yes, they not only serve and protect!). The singer was in the street outside Grabbajabba. It seems, when the rain cleared, the charismatic young women had her audience eating out of her hands on a feast of American show music and Barbra Streisand old standards â€" tunes like "Second Hand Rose" and "The Way We Were." The cosmopolitan Brown was botn in the Bahamas, but raised partly in Florida and also Montreal. Her mother was a singer in her youth. Suzanne got her first guitar at the age of eight and later sang the lead ‘Lily‘ in a high school producâ€" tion of "Carnival." Since then, 0'0\"0'-'’;': f uzanne Brown‘s ambition is to | sing "Showboat." music has shaped her life. The proverbial "tripleâ€"threat" â€" she dances and acts, as well as, sings. » "There are times," she said, "when I am more natural on the stage than off. I love being in live performances." Her singing is her "way of expressing joy," she says simply. "When I am performing," she added, "there is a passion at work and a desire to express myself in many types of music." But this talent of her‘s is a very "spiritual" thing, she pointed out. Brown is a regular soloist at her church, with emphasis on ‘regular.‘ Even when her youngest son Aaron was born, a year ago, the new mom missed only a single Sunday to catch her breath. Still, it must be said, she has not always been so wellâ€"centred. Her first marriage, entered into someâ€" what impetuously at a tender age resulted in divorce, though Suzanne has two beautiful sons, Danny 8, and Robert 7, to show for it. (Both are wonderful singers in their own rights, we hear.) For several years, (See ‘Brown‘ page 13) "One Day‘s Journey" A Grief Workshop For those people who have suffered a loss.
