Broken garage door creates winter Dear Condofax: I would like your JD assistance on a matâ€" ter of great concern to me. For the past 13 years I have lived in a condominium in Burlington. For the past year or so it has become increasingly diffiâ€" cult to open my garage door and finally it has become impossible. I asked the Board if I might have a new garage door and they said no, since it was not in the budget. Since December 1993 I have not been able to use my garage and therefore have had to leave my car outside on my driveâ€" way. Every winter I made a practice of keeping my car inside my garage and never had any trouble starting it at any time during the bitter cold winter months. This winter I had to call the H.A.C. twice to start my car in the morning. After the second H.A.C. start up, I was advised by them to start my car first, let it run for a few moments, then drive off. One morning in February, I did this and once inside my home looked outside my window to see my car being driven off by some unknown person. I promptly called the police and they found it an hour later outside a high school, in the parking lot. Fortunately the police didn‘t charge me for leaving my keys in the car whilst my door was unlocked. My keys (car, home, office) were never found and that cost me quite a lot of money as I had to change all my locks (home and car). This unfortunate incident would not have happened had my car been warm and snug in my garage! This spring my son came home from university and went away for a week. He had to leave his car in the visitor‘s parking space and when he returned he had a ticket for $20. Once again, had he been able to put his car in my garageâ€"no ticket. Again upon contacting a member of the Board of Directors and asking them if I might have a new garage door, he told me that we will be getting new garage doors next summer. I asked him why some homes (three) had new garage doors on them and he said they paid half ($400) of the approximate cost (See ‘Write,‘ page 18) Rea* sharp 3 bedroom home in River Oaks.
