"Only God and Nick Price could hit that shot." Big business with all the comforts of home. (at Dunwin) 9050072247 To add insult to injury, Calcavecchia had to miss his 7:15 p.m. plane just in case the world‘s top golfer faltered on the last two holes. Fat chance. Needless to say, he was happy, calling it the "the best twoâ€"iron shot in my life." "When that went in (for an eagle), I knew I had a twoâ€"shot lead (over Calcavecchia)." Price, who later acknowledged himself to be "a good watcher of scoreboards", knew exactly what had transpired. What he didn‘t know, was just how good his twoâ€"iron shot would turn out to be. What made it more dramatic was that seconds earlier, a roar of applause could be heard from the 18th green where challenger Mark Calcavecchia had closed out with an eagle to even himself up with Price at 12â€"under. Whithy: 111 Dunlop St. W. at Brock St. $05â€"608â€"2770 "I certainly got more good breaks than bad," he conceded. "Maybe The technical explanation, he elaborated, is that from "the hips down, I‘m rock solid. That allows my shoulders and arms to swing freely. Throw in some confidence and all sorts of things happen." The breaks were also going his way as evidenced by one shot on the 11th hole earlier in the week which hit a tree and bounced back on the fairway. The key, he deadpanned, is that the ball "is going where I‘m aiming." The scariest thing of all, is that Price, who also won at Glen Abbey in 1991, said he had "a very tough day" with his swings. Apart from a few money shots, he said they verged on erratic. What was going right, he said, was his putting which "was so solid for all four days." "I played as good as I could. I putted good all week. I‘m proud of myself. I got the job done for myself, maybe not the tournament." Calcavecchia correctly pointed out that his own torrid finish of a "birdieâ€"parâ€"eagle" was nothing to scoff at either, either. "It is very discouraging to play against that guy. I told my wife, ‘why does it have to be Nick Price again‘. He‘s clearly the best player in the world right now ... I guess that‘s why it‘s him." Although crestfallen, Calcavecchia, who faced reporters about the time Price was bogeying the 17th, was not without humour. On the 18th hole, however, it was vintage Price. He almost bagged a birdie, but in any event, left himself a ‘gimmee‘ for the allâ€"important par which was all he needed for a oneâ€" stroke win and the $324,000 purse. Oh, Price fell out of his stride just a little bit, bogeying the 17th hole to pare back his lead to just one stroke. "I mean, you don‘t have to eagle 16 â€" just a birdie..."
