One of the most difficult problems facing those with mental illness is stigma â€" society finds it all too easy to dismiss someone‘s "crazy" thinking. Jay Ingram will draw examples from his new book, The Burning House, to show that the brain has its own mysterious logic. Can we pretend to understand someone else‘s brain â€" when we may not be able to understand our own? Emerging markets give investors a wider selection of investments at bargain prices. These markets are fast growinF both economically and in terms 0 capital markets. They serve as an excellent source of diversification which can lower volatility in ones portfolio. _ The characteristics of the emergâ€" ing markets encompasses the areas of variability, limited reliable informaâ€" tion, perceived as dangerous, perâ€" ceived as volatile, economic instabiliâ€" ty, underdeveloped capital markets and rapid growth and change. Based on the above characteristic why would anyone want to invest in the emerging market. To start with these countries are undergoing political reform, fiscal reform, judicial reform, free elections and development of democratic instiâ€" tutions. Yet investors are flocking to these markets with billion of dollars. The real reason why these marâ€" ESTEE LAUDER Monâ€"Fri 9:30am â€" 9:00pm Saturday 9:30 am â€" 6pm Sunday 1lam â€" Offer ends Sat., Oct. 8, or where Sears is open, Sun., Oct. 9, 1994 With an Estée Lauder purchase of 19.50 or more, you‘ll receive a 30 mL White Linen Body Lotion, two Allâ€"Day Lipsticks, 45 ml Rich Results Hydrating Cleanser, 30 mL Clean Finish Toner, 6 ml Lucidity Make up, a vial of Tuscany per Donna, and a hairbrush, all in a Red cosmetic bag. We can look for these markets to continue their rapid . rowth due to sound opportunities ike privatization, deregulation, reduction of trade barners, liberalizaâ€" tion of exchange rates and monetary reform Of the 24 emerging countries the total market capitalization in US$ vs the developed markets like the USA, UK Japan is 967B to 7270B. While in 1980 the ratio was 145B to 2033B. The emerging countries have barely scratched their way into the economâ€" ic world community. In short they have economies that are growing at rknc:re than twice the rate of our marâ€" ets. Will they continue to grow at this rapid rate? I believe for the short term 3 to 5 years that their growth is a given. Yet it is important to note that unlike our markets the speed of order execution and the disseminaâ€" tion of news and research has not yet evolved to the point where it would be of benefit to an investor. At the current time investing with the aid of a fund manager who usuâ€" ally resides in and visits these counâ€" tries‘ markets is the best solution. In my opinion, most growth portâ€" folio should have a percentage of their positions in mutual funds like the Templeton Emerging Markets Fund, who specialize in the emergâ€" ing markets.
