According to spokesman Ken Hester, approximately 54,000 pounds of food had been collected as of press time, with 35,000 pounds coming in during the threeâ€"day weekend alone. "Right now we‘re doing as well as we expected and maybe a little better," said Hester, who still has to make a last sweep of local fire halls. Volunteers were a critical part of the food drive. Hester said at least 20 â€" including a troupe of Boy Scouts â€" helped out on Sunday. Complete Party Rentâ€"Alls continued the support it‘s shown in previous years by donating the use of the business‘ trucks for picking up food. Although accurate figures will be released once pickâ€"ups and sorting is completed, Hester said 12,000 pounds was collected on Saturday, 10,000 pounds on Sunday and 13,000 on _ (CGaBistro Call now and reserve your place to hear about some ideas that could earn you higher returns and save you taxes! Although no formal goal was set, Fareshare had been hoping to match the 60,000 pounds netâ€" ted last Thanksgiving. While foodbanks in Toronto and Markham have extended their drives to the end of the week, Hester said Fareshare‘s drive is essentially over. Food will still be picked up at fire halls until week‘s end, however. Those wishâ€" ing to drop off food can do so during Fareshare‘s regular hours, Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fareshare Foodbank is located at 1240 Speers Rd., Unit 6. Items still needed include peanut butter, canned stew, dry pasta and canned meats. ; Cash or cheques (for which income tax receipts will be issued) are also welâ€" come so that the foodbank can go to local stores and purchase what it requires. According to Fareshare‘s Laura Watson, the number of individuals using the foodbank has dropped slightly since last year but the need remains: 3,000 families are registered (still others are not) which means 300 families avail themselves of the foodbank‘s services each month. f Corns, Calluses, Warts Nail Disorders, Infection (Fungal/Bacterial) Senior‘s Foot Care FREE CONSULTATION TEN TOES ‘ “ FOOT CARE HARBOUR PLACE (BRONTE), LOWER LEVEL 2368 LAKESHORE RD.
