WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1994 PAGE 20 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER ~SPORTS For Excellent Real Estate service advice, just call JACKIE VAN‘T HULLENAAR Sales Representative 844â€"5000 sutton ~people AN INDEPENDENT MEMBER BROKER Blades win at home Oakville Rep Hockey Report and lose on the road A convincing win at home and a close loss on the road made for a respectable weekend for the Oakville Blades Junior A hockey team. In Friday night‘s 7â€"2 win over the Royal York Rangers, the Oakville Blades finally found some disciâ€" pline, said general manager Murray Walker. In Sunday night‘s close 5â€"4 loss in Burlington, howâ€" ever, they couldn‘t find the net enough, despite giving a credible performance. The Blades hosted a rare Tuesday night home game against the Milton Merchants (result unavailable at press time). Friday‘s usual home game (Oakville Arena, 8 p.m.) will feature the Hamilton Kilty Bees and on Saturday the Blades will return the visit to Royal York (7 p.m.). In Friday‘s win, Walker said the Blades finally found themselves on the outside of the penalty box looking in at a benchful of Royal York players who, having all but conceded the hockey game, were bent on trying to beat ‘em in the alleys. But the Blades stuck to hockey, he said, and the referâ€" ée stuck it to the Rangers with penalty after penalty. As for Sunday‘s 5â€"4 loss, it wasn‘t exactly like the sky falling down. But for a bounce or two, he said Oakville might have managed a better fate in the buildâ€" ing of the current divisional leaders. Burlington‘s only loss this year, ironically, occurred at Oakville Arena. "We‘ll have another shot at them," said Walker. Here is a look at Oakville‘s scoring stats: OAKVILLE 7, ROYAL YORK 2 (Friday night): Oakville held period Re * leads of 3â€"1 and 7â€"1. First period scoring: 1 (pp), Mike Gamble from Paul Dolan; 2, Marcel from Mike Gamble and Scott Mills; 3, Matt Interbartolo from Sasha Perisic and Kent Williams. Matt Gregoire put Oakville up 2â€"1 in the final frame when he oneâ€"timed a pass from Brian Mills and Erik Melander. But St. Catharines pressed on the ensuing shift, and eventually put in the equalizer.
