Clark said special needs of students must be met and the best location for these services was in the schools. "But I don‘t think the money and delivery of those services has to come through education dollars," said Clark. Clark added she didn‘t feel these programs were in danger of being cut, but that new ways of funding them, through partnerships with the Ministry of Community and Social Services as well as other agencies, must be pursued. "The public education system needs to support these programs, but how we‘re going to get the money I don‘t know," said Reinsborough, who also suggested â€" partnerships _ with Community and Social Services as an option. Both Bell and Ward 1 candidate Ken Smith agreed the services were important and whether or not they conâ€" tinued was up to the board and its abiliâ€" ty to control rising costs of education. When asked to respond to the quesâ€" tion of gays or lesbians advocating their lifestyle to students in the classroom, Smith joked," Thank you, I was waiting for a grenade." Smith said alternate lifestyle presenâ€" tations could be made in the classroom, but only at the secondary level, said Smith when such issues could be propâ€" erly explained. "I don‘t think any special interest group should be in our schools advocatâ€" ing something," said Siebert.a comment echoed by all other candidates. "Lifestyle issues are related to spiriâ€" tuality and things that are developed within a family structure," said Docherty. THE OTHER KIND OF POOL!
