Oakville Summer Theatre began in May of 1993 with a commitment to producing profesâ€" sional theatrical productions that would both be highly entertaining and involve individuals from all areas of the community. The fundâ€"raising venture for the Oakville Summer Theatre which will present its premier season in the summer of 1995, will include performances by soprano and international leading lady Sheila Brand, comedienne and TV personality Diane Fabian, dramatic and musical performer Denise Ferguson, ‘first lady of Canadian musical theatre‘ Elizabeth Mawson and soprano Mary Pitt, one of the country‘s busiest performers recently seen in Napoleon. Artistic director of the compaâ€" ny is Christina James who most recently directed by Oakville event, Taste of Our Town, and whose list of stage credits include Katisha in The Mikado (Stratford Festival), Ruth in Pirates of Penzance (Royal Alex) and the title role in The Medium (Opera Ora) and many productions with the Canadian Opera Company as well as her role as Head of Vocal Discipline at Sheridan College. Here‘s to the Ladies, a cabaret featuring the talents of some of Canada‘s leading ladies of musiâ€" cal theatre, will be presented Monday (Nov. 28th) by the Oakville Summer Theatre, at 8 p.m. at the Oakville Centre.
