Beloved wife of Chester for 65 years. Loved mother of Muriel (Fred Berrie), Valdina (Don Woods) and Arlene Curtis. Cherished grandmother of Scott (June), Craig (Erin), Shaun (Terra), Tyer, Laura (Glenn), Kelly (Ron), Matthew (Marilyn), Ryan and Travis. Greatgrandmother of Jase and Sydnee. Predeceased by daughter Marion and son-in-law Rob Foster. Joyce married a handsome Canadian soldier, Chester, when he was stationed in England during World War II. In 1944, she joined with other British war brides to cross the Atlantic, on the SS Pasteur, with their firstborn daughter and her wounded husband. Joyce and Ches resided in Oakville for 53 years. He was in the choir at St. Paul's United Church for many years and taught school for 36 years. SMITH, Neil Lawrason- Passed away peacefully at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on April 30, 2006 with family at his side after a determined battle against cancer at the age of 76. Survived by his loving wife, Patricia of 24 years. two daughters and two sons; Barbara (Gord) of North Bay, Brenda of Oakville, Neil Jr (Alison) of Oakville and Chad (Bluschenka) of Milton. Born January 23, 1930 in Paris, Ontario he attended Paris High School and received an honorary degree from Laurentian University in Sudbury. He moved to Sudbury, Ontario in the late 1950's to begin a long and distinguished career as an entrepreneur and business owner. He was the founder of Neil Smith Construction in the early 1960's and went on to found the Auburn Group of Companies which for over 35 years have provided a range of specialized industrial services and equipment for maintenance projects at metal smelters around the world. He lived a full and active life and was a long time skier and golf enthusiast. He served as President of the Idylwylde Golf Club in Sudbury, Ontario and was most recently a member of Mississauga Golf and Country Club in Mississauga, Ontario and the Country Club of Florida in Boynton Beach, Florida. He scored his first and only hole-in-one at his former golf club t h e P i n e Tr e e G o l f C l u b i n B o y n t o n Beach, Florida. One of his loves was his Labrador and Golden Retrievers which were his close companions and were named Samantha, Tigger, Coco and Samantha(2). Visitation will be held at the Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West (1 block East of Kerr Street) Oakville, on Thursday, May 4th, 2006 from 10am to 1pm and 5-9pm.
