BUSINESS IN OAKVILLE The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday May 17, 2006 - 31 Imperial Manufacturing Group expands in Oakville IMG opens 102,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and distribution facility Imperial Manufacturing Group's recent Oakville expansion was predicated on several factors, says company President and CEO Normand Caissie, not the least of which was timing. IMG's original 28,000 sq. ft. Bristol Circle site was strictly a distribution centre for 10 years, but when the timing was right, said Caissie, the decision was made to create the current 102,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and distribution operation on Winston Park Road that now produces a full line of building products. "What you see we're very proud of," Caissie said at the company's recent official opening. At the same time, he thanked his wife and employees, some of whom have worked for Imperial more than 25 years, as well as all those who put their "hearts, souls and money" into the project. The expansion also increased the number of employees in Oakville from 30 to approximately 100. "It is a pleasure to formally congratulate our people at the Oakville location," said Caissie. "We provided the added space and they are providing the skills, commitment and enthusiasm that make for great customer service." Imperial Manufacturing Group is a leading manufacturer and distributor of stove and fireplace, ventilation and galvanized products, registers, grilles, aluminum railing and columns, building products and indoor air quality improvement equipment. IMG operates manufacturing and distribution facilities in Richibucto, NB headquarters; Dieppe, NB; Dartmouth, NS; Anjou, QC; Montreal, QC; Oakville and Hamel, Illinois. The Oakville site is now home to new building products - galvanized as well as stove and fireplace maintenance products - manufacturing, distribution and warehousing. Imperial Manufacturing Group has been in Oakville for six years and has recently expanded and opened a new manufacturing and distribution facility at 2340 Winston Park Drive. "Oakville is a showcase for our customer-focused strategy at IMG," said Caissie. "We have three goals: make the best products, be the low-cost producer and provide the best possible customer service. Our Oakville employees are making that happen and our customers are responding to their commitment, enthusiasm and knowledgeable service." The full line of building products includes a lightweight structural framing system for both wind bearing and combined axial and lateral load bearing applications and an expanding line of non-structural building components that are noncombustible, corrosion resistant and manufactured to precise tolerances. The most recent addition to the Oakville inventory is IMG's stove and fireplace maintenance product line, consisting of black matt stove pipe, brushes and a full line of stove and fireplace chemical and maintenance products. IMG was established in 1979 with six employees work- ing at a small warehouse in Richibucto, New Brunswick. Twenty-six years later, Imperial has become a multinational manufacturer with more than 700 employees in Canada and the United States. "We're growing at a rapid, but highly strategic pace," explained Caissie. "It's made possible by opportunity and our ability to hire talented, motivated and service-oriented people. Our Oakville team exemplifies our strategy." The issue of time was raised again in Caissie's remarks Wednesday, but in a slightly different vein. "I started this when I was a very, very young man," Caissie laughed. "The metal business doesn't age you, I can tell you that." Growing rapidly by internal expansion and acquisition, Imperial has acquired and absorbed 17 companies and now operates 10 diversified divisions. The company produces more than 7,000 products from its facilities and its combined manufacturing and warehouse space totals more than 500,000 square feet. "With ongoing customer satisfaction as our top priority, IMG will pursue continuous improvement in a determination to be the best at everything we do," said Caissie.
