22 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday May 20, 2006 Hunter takes over high school lead The Halton high school golf standings are looking a little different. With first-round leader Mike Young of Oakville Trafalgar not participating in round two at Hidden Lake Golf Club, first place was taken over by Adam Hunter of Aldershot. The top Oakville golfers are Corey Evans of St. Thomas Aquinas and Mike Lorenz of T.A. Blakelock, who are tied for fifth. Evans shot a second round 80 and Lorenz shot a round-low 74. Each has a two-round total of 158, six strokes back of the leader. Young wins CJGA qualifier in playoff Michael Young of Oakville won a playoff to capture first place in the boys' 17-19 division at the Canadian Junior Golf Association Euro Junior Cup Qualifier in Belleville. Despite shooting a one-under 71 on the opening day, Young still found himself a shot back of Adam Petrasovic of Tecumseh. The 17-year-old followed up his opening round with a 74, helping him draw even with Petrasovic, who shot a 75 on the second day of the two-day event at the Trillium Wood Golf Course. "My heart was kind of pounding for the last couple of holes," said Young. "I tried to stay positive, and play well." And he did play well, earning the victory in a playoff. The Euro Junior Golf Cup will be held in St. Andrews, Scotland from July 22 - 29, 2006. CJGA Team Canada will face off against the United States and the Fife Golf Union in the Ryder Cup-style event. Tournaments will be held throughout the season for players to qualify. McCauley shares first Adam McCauley of Oakville shot back-to-back rounds of 73 to tie for first place in the boys' 17-19 division at the Canadian Junior Golf Association TMI-TaylorMade-Adidas Golf Invitational in Aurora. McCauley's 73 at the Beacon Hall Golf Club put him in third place, six shots back of Timothy Lew of Courtice. However, Lew struggled on the second day at the Magna Golf Club, shooting an 81 to open the door for the rest of the field. McCauley duplicated his first round of oneover-par 73 to finish in a tie for first with Garrett Rank of Elmira (72-74) with a two-day total of 146. Oakville's Brian Lee tied for third, one shot off the pace after rounds of 74 and 73.
