The OMB decision -- that won't become final for three months -- was made public late last week. It opens the door for Palm Place Developments to build 300 units in three buildings on the west half of the property and hand over the east half as a park. It would be at no cost to the Town or Conservation Halton, but would need to be cleaned up environmentally as barrels remain buried on the site. However, the OMB also left the door open for the Town to either buy or expropriate the entire property. Both sides must take action of some type within the next three months, or the OMB will dismiss the entire case. The unusually long written decision -- 62 pages -- arrived in Friday's mail leaving most to sift through it and gather their thoughts over the long weekend.
