More than 150 people were involved in the event, from models, co-ordinators and teachers, not to mention the many local businesses that loaned their support. Intrada Brass presents Have Tuba Will Travel Oakville's Intrada Brass wraps up its second season at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Sunday, May 28 with Have Tuba, Will Travel. The concert features Canadian tubist, Karen Bulmer, who will play Edward Gregson's Tuba Concerto and her onewoman cabaret routine, Girl Meets Tuba. A native of London, Ontario and a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Yale University, Bulmer is a freelance tubist who performs with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Orchestra London Canada and Toronto's Hannaford Street Silver Band. She belongs to the Trillium Brass Quintet. This fall, Bulmer heads to Newfoundland to teach at Memorial University in St. John's. She has previously taught at the University of Windsor and University of Prince Edward Island. Several years ago, Bulmer's sound documentary, Joined At The Lips, was broadcast by CBC Radio. In addition to accompanying Bulmer, Bram Gregson will conduct Intrada Brass in Gustav Holst's Suite No. 1 in Eflat and Harmonious Variations on a Theme by Handel by Gordon Langford. The band will also play John Philip Sousa's The Liberty Bell (the Monty Python theme), John Denver's Perhaps Love, featuring Michael Hetherington and Paul Rayment on euphonium, and Gabriel Fauré's Pavane, arranged by associate conductor Kevin Norbury.
