The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday May 24, 2006 - 31 Bad habits developing Pine Grove sweeps divisions at Gapes Ecole Pine Grove School dominated Friday's Gapes Junior Relays, winning all four age divisions at the event. Pine Grove claimed overall pennants in tyke, atom, bantam and midget at the meet, which featured students from Grades 3-6 representing 29 different schools from across the region. Pine Grove shone brightest in atom, winning the boys', girls' and mixed races to finish with a perfect score. The school's bantam girls' team set a new record in its heat, completing the distance in a time of 59.13 seconds (more than half-a-second faster than its pace in the final). Post's Corners, River Oaks and Sunningdale each won a race as Oakville schools were victorious in all 12. Post's Corners won the tyke girls' race, River Oaks was fastest in bantam boys and Sunningdale earned first in midget girls. Other local schools placing in finals at the event, held at Nelson Stadium in Burlington, included Heritage Glen, Abbey Lane, Linbrook, Maple Grove, Pilgrim Wood and West Oak. Halton elementary school meets continue this week. The Lamb Junior Relays, rained out last Thursday, were scheduled to be held yesterday (Tuesday). Meanwhile, the Collier senior meet (for the second-smallest schools in the region) is slated for today (Wednesday) and the Ortwein meet (for largest schools) will be held Friday. Both are to be contested at Nelson, with the Everett and Wallace meets next week. Continued from page 29 "We're going to have to work for the first time this year," Little said. He also hinted that his team's lackluster effort could be due to the boredom of not playing in any close games this year. "We've got to get away from some bad habits we've developed. We all know what we're capable of and we've got to play to that capability." In Sunday's 11-4 victory, the Buzz received two-goal performances from Brenden Thenhaus, Josh Smyth (who also added three assists) and Reed Board. Chris Moulson had a five-point effort (one goal, four assists) and Bryan Johnson had a goal and three assists in his first game of the year since returning from school. After the game in Milton on Friday, the Buzz will play host to the 4-3 Mimico Mountaineers on Sunday.
