Each member must raise a minimum of $2,000 to walk 60 km through the neighbourhoods of Toronto in September. Shelley Cochran, Wendy Gualtieri, Julianne Sarafinchan and Catherine Straub are the Hooter Girls, and last year raised over $12,000 for breast cancer research, services, education, support and care. The odds of getting breast cancer are one in nine women. We feel very fortunate to be able to participate and are grateful for the existing programs in place to help women survive this disease. We are four moms who have been touched by cancer in some way. We know that we can make a difference for our grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and friends. We walked last year for all the women who have gone before us and to give hope to the women currently battling this disease. It simply boils down to giving back to our community. We were lucky enough to finish the event last year without a single injury. Although walking 60 kilometres was no small feat, the impact we made as a small group was huge. Crossing that finish line was such an exciting moment for us all! It meant that we could commit to raising such a large amount of money for a great cause and finish with a smile on our faces.
