Drury High School in Milton. This year's gala was the fifth annual awards evening and more than 200 elementary and secondary students were in attendance. "`The Eddies' is our version of the Oscars," said Jeff Bowman, Communications and Multi-Media Administrator at the Halton District School Board, and one of the festival organizers. Wayne Joudrie, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board, was on hand to give out The Eddies, offering his congratulations. Elementary school winners are: In the Documentary Category, Silver Creek Public School for The Barber Family, entered by Rebecca Schwegler, Ashley Best, Jenna Cameron, Rhianna Malcolm, Alysia Graham, and Meaghan Buy. Rolling Meadows Public School took home The Eddie for both the Animation Category and Editing Category for Endless Beginning, entered by Shelby Grassick, Josie Young, Margaret MacDougall, Elena Pectu, Laura Epp-Ruitenberg and Lyndsay Rayner. Rolling Meadows' Damian Weber won the Comedy Category for How to Episode 6 and Stratton Barry and William Inglis' Infinity won the Experimental Category. Captain R. Wilson Public School won the Public Service Announcement Category for Bullying, entered by Parker Christie and Ryan Cookish. Canadian Pacific Railway, entered by Frontenac Public School's Dylan Dunstan, Jesse Moore, Tyler Armstrong, Cindy Phan, James Hall, Danielle Wentrot, and Michelle Blumentrath, won the Special Effects category. Secondary School winners are: Iroquois Ridge High School won the Animation 3D Category for The Idea by Damian Campeanu and also took home the Animation 2D Category for Evan Dinsmore's Lemon Tree. The school also picked up the Original Soundtrack Category for Roberto Suarez in El Tren by Rebecca Schinkel, Emily Sturtridge, Elizabeth Weglarz and Matt Latham. The Comedy Category was won by Abbey Park High School's Ashton Vetter, David Bell, Tom Craig, Victoria Racanelli and James Goacher for The Luminous Door. That film also won Victoria Racanelli the Female Actor Category Eddie for her performance. Abbey Park also won Eddies in the Drama Category and Screenplay Category for Backtrack, by Tyler Cowan, Caitlin Bailey, Sam Marchand, Scott Meiklejohn and Brodin Lane, and won the Action/Adventure Category for Fight for Freedom by Matt MacStravick, Mark Elliott, Josh Joiner and Mike Chapman. T.A. Blakelock High School's Valerie Vesselinova took home the Eddie for the Music Video Category for Low. The school also won the Commercial Category for Ask for More, by Nick Benum, Christian Waters and Jesse Smith. Iroquois Ridge High School's Brendan Fernie and Andrew Matthews won the Documentary Category for Teen Smoking. The school also won the Experimental Category and Cinematography Category for Counterpoint by Michael Danielak. The Special Effects Category was won by Milton District High School for iPods and iTips for Dummies, by Bethany McCollum, Brian Best and Evelyn Zielinski. White Oaks Secondary School's Dark Side of the Moon by Andrew Hattin won the Graphics Category.
