"New business owners understand the importance of having a website, but many don't know how to get started or how to use their Web sites effectively," said John Davidson, Director of Business Development at Halton Region. "This seminar helps entrepreneurs move beyond the basics to learn how to strategically use the Internet to launch or grow their businesses." Jemma Fong of InSite Creations, Web Design and Development, will be facilitating the seminar. Fong has successfully positioned many companies and organizations progressively in their marketplaces. InSite Creations brings both a Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer perspective to entrepreneurs. They have created a strong client base of effective web projects resulting in increased business and awareness for many of their clients since 1995. "As a non-technical person, I received a great deal of useful information regarding websites and their design and operation," said an attendee from Partners in Progress, who was at a previous seminar with InSite Creations. "Two matters stand out in my mind: the importance of having one's website appear at the beginning of web searches, and the amount of analysis that can be done on traffic visiting a Web site." The seminar will be presented from two points of view--the user's and the site owner's. Topics to be covered will include how to effectively research and perform a competitive analysis when planning your own business site; how to search the Internet properly; how to get started on the web; and how to keep up with technology.
