"I was actually surprised how strong he was he was really squirming," said Dowd, who estimated Chef probably only weighed about three pounds. "I thought because he'd been up there so long, he'd be docile. He wasn't at all." It took Thorton, who made a small incision in the can with some pliers, Dowd, who was holding Chef still with both hands, and Isenberg, who was pulling on the can, to remove it from Chef's sweaty, orange face. It was obvious after he bit Isenberg's hand that Chef wasn't injured, and he was released into a nearby tree. "We've done this before where cans, or jars or whatever just get stuck on animals," said Isenberg, who once rescued two skunks stuck in the plastic wrapping of a six-pack. "Baby animals always get into trouble because their parents leave them alone to explore." Chef's mom was nowhere to be seen yesterday, but Dowd said she probably had five or six other little raccoons to tend to. Powell is hoping they aren't as adventurous as Chef. "We have a lot of wildlife around here and you can't put your garbage out the night before (garbage pick-up) because of the raccoons, but we haven't had one on the roof ever before," she said, smiling. "This is a first hopefully a last." Isenberg says Powell doesn't need to worry about Chef coming back for more Chef Boyardee mini ravioli. "He'll never be back," she said. "He'll be too terrified. He had a tough night."
